NSW: Premier’s Office To Consider Essential Service Determination

Thanks for Kristy Dawson of Mr Pesty for pursuing this in NSW and providing this update as to correspondence received around the determination of Pest Management as an essential service.

Commentary: The below correspondence chain may help you understand the position of Government and how things will proceed. Thanks for Kristy for pursuing this because if this wasn’t pushed to them they’d likely never have considered our industry! #strongertogether

Initial Response to Kristy’s submission:

Thank you for your correspondence regarding the temporary restriction of some activities and businesses in New South Wales.

The National Cabinet, consisting of the Prime Minister and leader of each State and Territory, is meeting on a regular basis. It has put in place significant restrictions on gatherings and on some business activities to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In New South Wales, these restrictions are enforceable under Public Health Orders issued by the NSW Government.

Given this is an evolving situation, I strongly encourage you to visit www.nsw.gov.au for the latest advice. Information on what business activities are restricted is available at that site, as well as restrictions on gatherings that may apply to businesses that remain open.

I can assure you that your representations are being considered, and will be noted as any future decisions are made.

Followed by Kristy’s reply:

Thank you Andrew for your very prompt response it is truly greatly appreciated.

Can you confirm that my request for having Pest Control listed as an essential service will be considered by the premier and cabinet?

Response from Premier’s Office:

I can confirm that the information provided will be considered by the team tasked with determining future Public Health Orders.
